Trail Camera Selection Guide 27

Do you need a Dynamic or Static Trail Camera?

Not all trail cameras are made the same. Some trail cameras are manufactured and designed to capture photos of moving objects better than others. This is often created on the back end of the trail camera with more detailed exposure tables, something as a consumer you are unable to see. What you often see though is the price difference from one camera to another.

Dynamic – Trail cameras that are designed to better capture photos of movement. These types of cameras are best used in areas where wildlife will be moving at a quicker pace, such as saddles, creek crossings, and open hardwoods. The cost of these cameras will tend to be at a higher price point.

Static – Static trail camera are designed to have good quality photographs in areas where animals are less likely to move quickly through an area. Places such as scrapes, field edges, bait piles, and staging areas. The exposure tables on the back end of the trail camera have less detail, but if you are using the camera in these areas, you will be able to save a little money on price.
